centos4.1 will not install on Proliant ML350
« on: October 04, 2005, 06:01:41 PM »
Hello, I am trying to install centos4.1 on a Compaq Proliant ML350 G2. After booting off the disc, it gets stuck on the "loading cciss driver". The server consist of 3 compaq hot plug SCSI drives and a smart array 532 controller. I performed a experiment and loaded Red Hat 9 and it had the same screen come up and loaded with no problems. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and I would also be willing to pay for a solution. Thanks, Kristen Meyer

Welcome to Linux Boards! You might want to try CentOS 3.5, and just update the Kernel to 2.6. I have heard that 4.1 is not exactly stable yet.
Somebody else here might have a better answer though, I remember I had alot of issues installing CentOS 3.5 on my HP computer. I just kept trying and finally it worked. Go figure

Thanks for the reply adb22791, I should probably add that I am very new to linux out side of a Cobalt Raq4 web hosting appliance. From what I understand the program BlueQuartz that I am trying to get deployed is specific to centos4.1.
