That\'s right folks, Debian has done it. An installer for Linux from WINDOWS.

Check it out at the appropriately named

to learn more!

This is GREAT for the old junker laptop I had sitting in a closet somewhere that had no working CD-ROM and no floppy...

The Debian websites point to http://www.linux-laptop.net/ to see what version of linux to use.  I ahve a ChemBook Model 5033.

The link there, http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/chembook.html , does not show my model but it does have a link to submit my experience.  Maybe I will make a submittion of my experience for Debian.  What do you think?

Sure, why not.  Also post it here :)
Debian is awesome so I want to support their efforts.  Actually I use Mepis which is a debian/ubuntu cross-breed.

I will.  First I will have to try to hook up the old Windows 95 operating system to the internet (not an easy task) at work in order to use that website that is mentioned on this forum.

But it would help if someone can suggest a version of DEBIAN that I can burn on my other computer and move over to the laptop.

From what I hear, people find Ubuntu and Mepis really easy to install.  They both offer livecd so you can test drive prior to installing.
