Probably the most frequently asked, and flamed, question! Personally, I use neither, but if forced to make a choice, it would have to definately be Gnome. Gnome has it\'s issues, but I find it to be much less resource intensive than KDE, and much easier to use. KDE, IMHO, is like a Swiss Army knife with 4 gazillion blades: too many ways to do any given thing. It works fine, I just find it overly complicated, especially the "K" menu.

I would have to go with Gnome too, although I have used both. Currently all my Linux boxes are gui-less  :D

I am using KDE 3.5 and it is pretty darn nice.  It has been simplified and has lots of nice features.  I believe KDE is a nice crossover for a Windows power user.

I slipped into KDE like a new pair of shoes. It was very easy coming from a Windows environent to use KDE. Gnome reminds me of years gone by and a little antiquated but is still a good way to go for those who would like more freedom.

Gnome works just fine, it just seems like it is like 5-6 years old where KDE has more of a newer slicker interface.

There are so many competing factions out there.  It is extra interesting to see it in a non-commercial environment like GNU/Linux.
Here is an effort called FreeDesktop to bring together KDE and Gnome.
