extra slow dial-up in fedora 4

Hi, when using dial-up with Fedora I get a very slow connection speed compared to Windows XP. Normal connection speed with Windows is 45.2kps (very consistent) with Fedora or any other Linux Disro ( I\'ve tried few to make sure it was\'nt just Fedora) connection speed is down to 9.6kps. Anybody know why?:confused:

That seems strange.  Do you have the right drivers installed?  What are you using to test the speeds?
