Hi,

Is it an Asutek or an Asustek?

Can you do in terminal:

# lspci

And copy/paste the section for Multimedia Audio Controller?

Of course it is Asustek according to the information of yast it is a 82801g  a high
definition audio controller driver snd-hda-intel.

command lspci not found

Now I use suse 10.3 the strange think is that suse 9.3 gives a very good sound
I can not remember the definition off the card under suse 9,3
Yes the volume control under alsa mixer is full open

An other strange think is that I buy my ethernet card as a Belkin
Suse 9.3 Yes it is Belkin suse 10.3 it is a Realtek he even manage to find a update for the driver of the card but never mind it works fine But still it is strange to me

I hope to get some more suggestion

all the best

So the Sound AND the ETHERNET both worked in SUSE 9.3 but not anymore in 10.3, most likely due to wrong driver detection?

Eternet card is working both with suse 9.3 and suse 10.3 both the vendor name chance,

The sound cart does not work in suse 10.3

Windows xp calls my sound cart Realtek
It is a brand new computer.

The sound cart is on board
I delete it probe it again but does not change

So I am still hoping for the solution

all the best

Also, make sure your sound mixer is configured correctly.  I have installed a few distros (though not SUSE) where the sound appeared to not be working right, but the sound mixer application (KMix on mine) was just not configured correctly at first.  Something with the input lines.

I do realize that kmix must be configure correctly
But it seems there are troubles with ich7 family where my sound cart belongs to . It heaves some what strange. As I said before it works fine with
suse 9.3 But I update to suse 10.3 because I like to use kde 4
and now the sound cart is not working

So I found a lot off possible solution but until now no one works for
me

regards
