internet access with usrobitics modem

i just installed a usrobitics internal pci pro 56k modem and am having trouble setting it up i am using ubuntu hoary 5.04 i tried pppconfig wvdial, minicom, i even installed gnomeppp but when i try to use it  it say could not execute child process i need help configuring my modem could someone help im new to linux

Lets see if linux found the modem first. Type lspci at promt and paste the results here. :)

it sees it but am having a hard time configuring it could it be the driver isnt loading

its most likley a win modem

if it is dont bother
linux will choke

try getting an out dated 3com (pci) because there are lots of linux drivers made for them

us robotics, sounds ify

That is a NIC card not a modem as far as I know.

or I recommend going with an external USB modem... it\'s more flexible and I have found better results when having to use a modem.

There are MUCH cheaper modems out there (I like the Creative Modem, external) which you can get for around $50 online.

That in itself should solve all your problems.
