Can live linux access restricted Windows files?

ive never used linux but i think i might soon.
im just wondering, if you use a live linux distro, can you access restricted files that would have been blocked by an admin(school)??? or if i wanted to copy files from their network to a disk w/out admin rights, could i w/linux?

Although Live Linux CD distributions are not designed for hacking, they can sometimes be used to "recover" data from systems of other OS\'s, including Windows.  What exactly you can do depends on a lot of things.  I recommend to download a distro and do some testing on what is possible.  Then you can post here with the details of your findings.  :rolleyes:

I use Knoppix Live CD Linux and I can view admin files but have no permission to create or move files around in there.  It might be possible to copy files to a storage device, but I havent tried that.
