I had to deal with their customer support. It is a nightmare. Right now, I have Vista, Office, Visual Studio, and I even bought a crappy Zune. That\'s all going out the window. I had an email chain with their customer support that finally pushed me over the edge.

Well, better late than never.  I am sure M$ appreciated all the cash you forked over to them.

The thing I realy like about Linux is that it provides what the people really WANT, not focusing on what new marketing shceme will pull in more money for the corporation.

Thanks, I\'m really looking forward to converting over to php from asp. I\'m so sick of visual studio.

However, you are wrong on one part. The thing is, they DON\'T appreciate all the money I\'ve forked over. That\'s what finally made me have enough.

I see your point.  So have you chosen a GNU/Linux distro yet?

No, not yet. I did see another site that had a pretty nice guide to use in the form of a quiz for help. It recommended Ubuntu. I haven\'t looked around enough to see which may be the best for development, but the GUI features of Ubuntu sure were impressive.

If you like the GNOME desktop environment then Ubuntu is definately the way to go. I personally prefer MEPIS (very powerful and uses so much less in resources) and SuSE.

For server you can\'t beat RedHat and the only other distro I would use for a server would be Fedora.

Yeh, I like Mepis cuz it is basically a Ubuntu/Debian hybrid, but you dont have to SU all the damn time (can log in as root user).
