my hello thread
« on: August 03, 2005, 06:44:11 PM »
Hello all,
I came to Linux Boards before when David had about half the users and posts he has now. That was a few months ago.
I had been away for a long time and when I got back I found an email from linuxboards about a post I had subscribed to. I hurried back and found a growing community of linux junkies  :)
Anyway, this time I plan on sticking around.

I currently run a small website GamingUltimate.net, and run a Virtual Private Server.

I also run a Counterstrike: Source server, which is on another CentOS box.

Thats about it about me,
-Alex

Hi Alex,

This is Dan, the new admin for LinuxBoards.  Thanks for the intro about yourself.  It is exciting to have a gaming expert on our boards and we will be greatful for and answers, comments, tips or articles you can contribute.  We may even want to make a forum topic dedicated to gaming..

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Sincerely,
Dan

Always good to hear of some old blood that has returned to the heart. Tell all your friends about this site... I am expecting LinuxBoards is going to explode here in the upcoming months!

I\'ve been meaning to get around to this for a while, so here\'s my intro:

I still regard myself as a newbie to Linux - certainly to Bash- but I\'ve had various distros on my systems for a year or so now and for the last 6 months have used Simply Mepis as my home system for online work.
Having seen how safe, easy to use and stable it is, I would NEVER go back to Bill\'s offerings now. There are only a couple of exceptions which means I have to use Windoze occasionally, and they are CAD design applications. Having said that, there are some wonderful open-source applications that\'l do the same thing so very soon, M$ will be a thing of the past for me.

When I hear of friends that have all the hassles with Windows, the viruses, spyware and all the rest, I suggest using Linux- but STILL the myth persists that it\'s difficult.

All I can say is that I\'m very happy to be here- using Linux! :)
