Site Rules
« on: September 17, 2005, 04:01:28 PM »
I think that we need to have some forum rules, so I went and made up a few quick ones. Please please comment on them, they are definatly not perfect!

Forum Rules

This forum is free of charge to everyone. This is an agreement between the visitor (you) and LinuxBoards.org. If you in any way, shape or form, not follow these rules, LinuxBoards.org can take any action they feel is necessary. This agreement applies if you are viewing, joining, or posting on this forum.

1) Registration
Registration allows you to post new threads, reply to posts and vote in polls.  You also get a personal profile where you can let others know about you and your organization.  By joining LinuxBoards.org forums, you are agreeing that you are over the age of thirteen (13), you have a valid email address, and a user name. Registration is free of charge.

2) Posting
Please be smart and think wisely when you are posting. All of these rules apply when you post anywhere on the forum.
2b) No Advertising of any kind on any parts of the forum except for the For Sale/Wanted/Trade forum.
2c) No pornography, whether it be a link or a direct image; it will not be tolerated.
2d) Harassment of other users will not be tolerated.
2e) Profanity, You are not allowed at any time. DO NOT try to get past our censors. They are there for a reason.
2f) Trying to get your thread to be higher than the rest (bumping) is not allowed.
2g) Bad Advice, If we find that you are giving out bad advice on purpose you will be banned no questions asked!
2h) Illegal content- You are not allowed to post anything illegal. "Warez", hacking etc are all considered illegal. You may not post your link with them or anything along those lines. If it\'s questionable; then don\'t post it.
2i) All posts must be in English. If there is a demand from non-speaking English members, we may consider allowing it. But for the time being, all posts must be in English. This rule does include "1337 H4x0R" speak, posting in ASCII, binary, XOr encryption or any language that requires deciphering.

3) Signatures/Avatars
You are not allowed to use the [img] tag in your signatures. You may only use it in your post. Avatars cannot flash, blink too many times, or anything along those lines. Also nothing relating to pornography or illegal activities. The only advertising we allow is a link back through your signature. Please do not post additional links in your posts. Avatars may include your business, but nothing more then that. No prices, no flashing, no advertising. We enforce Signatures and Avatars very strictly. The [size] tags in your signature are "heavily moderatered". If you think its too big then chances are we will too. Your best bet is not to use any [size] tags in your signature unless it makes the text smaller than "normal". Please note as of this new update, we will no longer allow Referral links in your signature nor profile. We will enforce this rule strictly. You are allowed 4 lines total in your signature, this includes lines you choose to type on, and lines you leave blank (white) and lines you leave after. You are allowed 4 links and 4 smiles.

4) Reporting Posts and Contacts
You may contact LinuxBoards forum moderators, super moderators, and Administrators through PM (Private Message). You may also report a post any time using the Report a Post icon next to each post. Please do not SPAM other users through PM. Any reported PM spam will result in the Spammer receiving a lengthy ban.

5) Accounts
All users a limited to having only 1 account. We use IP addresses to check this, so if you will have 2 different people using the same IP please let us know.

6) Ranks and Custom Titles
Custom Titles are granted after 150 posts. Custom Titles are privileges, and can be revoked at any time. Please do not promote yourself with Custom Titles. The following custom titles are not allowed:
admin, administrator, moderator, super mod.

We currently use Group Level system for community seniority:
    Linux Boards Newbie
These newly registered users can post, reply, and vote on polls.

    Level1 Member - 5 posts
After five posts you are assigned to Level1 member.  Now you can upload a custom avatar.

    Level2 Member - 20 posts
After twenty posts you are upgraded to Level2 member.  Now you can post on advertising forums.

    Level3 Member - 100 posts
These registered users have 100 posts and can now upload 100x100 avatar, listed on forum leaders list, and have custom title and well you are just a great person.  We will even give you a free LinuxBoards T-Shirt!

Banned User - The name says it all.  If you break the rules you could be banned.  If you believe you have been wrongfully banned, please contact the site owner or moderator.

LinuxBoards.org reserves the right to make changes to these rules at any time, with or without user notification. All changes are effective immediately.
